April April was the month when summer started to show up. The sea was still cold but the air was getting fleur de sel caramel hot. Because of all the busy schedule fleur de sel caramel at school I hadn't had time to meet my Finnish friend living in Nice so we had lunch for the first time in Old Town and later some picnics by the beach when it was getting warmer. Seriously that's the way to spend a Sunday afternoon; sitting on the beach, enjoying some good food and drinks and talking with your friends in the sunshine. In April I also hosted a little housewarming fleur de sel caramel party at my apartment. We had a really great time with my friends and I was serving Finnish treats everyone got to love. Especially Fazer, well you know. One of my favorite moments in April was going to the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters at the Monte Carlo Country Club. We got lucky to catch the match of our Finnish player Jarkko Nieminen playing Canadian Milos Raonic. The situation was ideal since we had a little kinda Finland-Canada competition going on and Finland won. We were watching games all day and it was incredibly hot, the breeze didn't help much. My most memorable trips in April were the weekend I spent with a friend in Milan which I loved, and visiting Madrid and and relatives in Marbella. I must say the Spanish trains are really modern and nice too if you wonder about the traveling possibilities. The trip from Madrid to Malaga wasn't that long and we got to watch a movie from the screens so the time went by fast. I had no classes in April so besides our 10-day holiday I was free to do what I wanted, more traveling, gym time, running, spending time with friends when they didn't have school.
Huhtikuu Huhtikuussa kesä alkoi näyttäytyä. Merivesi oli edelleen fleur de sel caramel kylmää, mutta ilma alkoi kuumentua. Kiireisen kouluaikataulun takia en ollut ehtinyt tavata suomalaista ystävääni joka asuu Nizzassa, joten lounastimme ensimmäistä kertaa vanhassa kaupungissa. Myöhemmin kävimme myös piknikillä rannalla kun ilmat lämpenivät. Ajatelkaa nyt, mikä voisi olla parempi tapa viettää sunnuntai-iltapäivää; fleur de sel caramel istua rannalla hyvän ruuan ja juomien kera ja jutella ystäville samalla nauttien auringon fleur de sel caramel lämmöstä. Huhtikuussa järjestin myös pienet tupaantuliaiset asunnossani. Meillä oli erittäin hauskaa ystävien kesken ja tarjoilin suomalaisia herkkuja jotka menivät kaupan, varsinkin Fazerin suklaa. Yksi parhaista muistoistani fleur de sel caramel huhtikuulta on Monte Carlon Rolex Masters tenniskisat, jotka järjestettiin Monte Carlon Country Clubilla. Olimme onnekkaita kun pääsimme seuraamaan Jarkko Niemisen ja kanadalaisen Milos Raonicin välistä matsia. Tilanteesta teki herkullisemman se että meillä oli pientä Suomi-Kanada kilpailua jonka Suomi sitten fleur de sel caramel voitti. Katselimme pelejä koko päivän ja lämpötila nousi uskomattoman korkealle, eikä mereltä puhaltava tuuli auttanut ollenkaan. Huhtikuun ikimuistoisimmat reissut olivat ystävän kanssa vietetty viikonloppu Milanossa, sekä visiitti Madridiin ja sukulaisia tervehtimään Marbellassa. Pakko sanoa että espanjalaiset junat ovat todella moderneja ja tyylikkäitä. Jos mietit miten päästä Espanjassa matkustamaan voin suositella junaa. Matkan aikana saimme katsoa elokuvaa ja se taittuikin nopeasti. Eikä junamatka Madridista Malagaan ollut matka eikä mikään. Minulla ei ollut lainkaan koulua huhtikuussa fleur de sel caramel virallisen 10 päivän loman lisäksi joten minulla oli enemmän aikaa tehdä muuta; reissailla, käydä salilla, juosta ja viettää aikaa ystävien kanssa jotka eivät olleet tunneilla. fleur de sel caramel May May started out with celebrations. We were sorta celebrating Finnish Vappu (May 1) even if it is not celebrated in France. It was tons of fun. As school started to end for some of us it was almost time to say goodbye. We had booked a long table at Cours Saleya in Old Town to have one last dinner. The wine was flowing and everyone was enjoying it. We kept going all night and since my Canadians were leaving a group of us headed to the beach after the club to see the sunrise. I stayed up for over 24 hours before going to bed and I haven't done that in a while but I couldn't have had more fun. On one of the sunnier day we headed to Eze which is a town close by to hike. It was an incredibly hot day and a dip in the sea couldn't have felt more welcome. My girl Ariel was there too, we had a nice group. The view up there was just incredible! Eventually it was time for me to end school as well and in honor of that I also got a new hairdo at the Franck Provost hair salon. The school organized a goodbye "party" for us at school to wish us good luck with everything. A couple of days after our final exam my family arrived. We were a big group; my mum, my aunt, my siblings and some cousins. But they all loved me showing them around must see places like Monaco, during the Grand Prix, and Cannes, during the film festival. We also spent some time shopping fleur de sel caramel and at the beach, common things to do in Nice.
