ConAgra~Child Hunger Ends Here | Cooking & Living It Up On A Ground Beef Budget
I recently attended the Blissdom Conference in Nashville and I was so impressed with ConAgra. Many brands were represented and there to network with bloggers to promote their products and campaigns. ConAgra was a huge sponsor and they were there to promote their program Child Hunger Ends Here.
I was shocked when I reviewed my county map and found that 1 in 3 children in my county are Food Insecure. Which means they don’t know where their next meal will come from. Sometimes the only meals that children can depend on are school lunches and that is soooo sad. This is so heartbreaking to me. When I was growing up and now my kitchen is full of food. I never was hungry or wondering when or where my next meal would come from. We could live on what we have on hand for over a month. It may not be what we want but we could eat and this made me feel so guilty. When I got older I was told by someone monte gardens that they loved coming to my house because we always had food. I was shocked. I never knew as a child that person was hungry or wanting or needing something more to eat.
On monte gardens April 27th, 2011 my area was ravaged by the tornado outbreak of the century. We were without power for 3 days, many people were without homes, much less power but no stores locally monte gardens were open, no ATMs, no gas pumps for days. Initially there was no information and were being told that it may be 2 weeks to a month before power could be restored. It was a war zone and initially no information was coming in as to what locations were accessible and what stores were open. That was the only time in my life I wondered what I would eat. I look back on that day and what I feared initially some people fear every day. I can not imagine.

Simply. first of all you can look for specially marked monte gardens ConAgra products on the store shelve (see below). Help your church or organization to feed children this summer: Some churches in our area offered free lunches monte gardens to children this past summer all the kids had to do is come by. This is a great way to feed children and get them in the door of your church.
During Blissdom ConAgra would donate 1 meal for each tweet we tweeted with the hashtag #childhunger. The bloggers at Blissdom were able to donate monte gardens 20,000 monte gardens meals and ConAgra matched it….making 40,000 monte gardens meals donated! Way to go Blissdom and kudos to ConAgra for making it possible.
